Polyether Polyol - Ethoxylated glycerin



Ethoxylated glycerin (also called ethoxylated glycerol or glycereth) is a versatile polyether polyol triol by adding ethylene oxide to glycerol(glycerin) under controlled conditions with an alkaline catalyst. Zibo Dexin Lianbang Chemical produce very rich grades of ethoxylated glycerin with wide range ethoxylation levels. With different ethoxylation levels, ethoxylated glycerin has different solubility and stability. It is wildly used as nonionic surfactant and humectant such as solubilizers, wetting agents, emulsifiers, etc.


Properties:

Ethoxylated glycerin has many special properties that makes it wildly used in many industries:


1. Good compatibility and water solubility:

Many ethylene oxide (EO) units in ethoxylated glycerin give it extremely high hydrophilicity. It is soluble in water, alcohols, glycols, and compatible with most surfactants. This makes it an excellent solubilizer for oils, fragrances, and actives in water-based formulations.


2. Excellent humectant property:

It remains the water absorption property of glycerin but less sticky. It can provide long lasting moisturization without being greasy.


3. Mild and Non-Irritating:

Ethoxylated glycerin is very mild and non-irritating even for sensitive skin products. And it has less tackiness and better sensory feel.


4. Good Solubilizing & Co-Surfactant performance:

It can improve the mixing of oil and water phases in solubilizing perfumes, essential oils, and vitamins. Furthermore, it can be used with other surfactants to improve foam quality and stability in shampoos and detergents.


5. Thermal and Chemical Stability:

It is stable under a wild range of PH and temperature conditions.


Application:


1. Personal Care & Cosmetics:

In cosmetics, Ethoxylated glycerin is known by the name Glycereth, like Glycereth-7, Glycereth-12, etc. The number indicates the ethoxylation level. The higher the number, the higher the EO content and the stronger the hydrophilicity.

Ethoxylated glycerin can be used as humectant, moisturizer, emollient, solubilizer and mild surfactant to produce moisturizing creams, lotions, facial cleansers, toners, shampoos, conditioners, toothpaste, mouthwash,etc.


2. Pharmaceuticals:

It can be used as a solubilizer and carrier.


3. Industrial Uses:

It can be used as emulsifier, stabilizer, anti-static and wetting agent, dispersant in textile, coating, lubricant, detergents, pigment and ink formulations.
